why
the first step towards a more just democracy: voter registration
Over 50% of all countries and territories practice compulsory voter registration. Because of this, all citizens in those countries are given the ability to vote without having to register. However, in the United States, voting is not compulsory. The sheer fact that Americans must register in order to practice their 15th Amendment right to vote is the first hurdle citizens must face when attempting to cast their ballot. While around 52%-55% of young Americans voted in the 2020 presidential election, more young people need to vote. This starts with registering eligible high schoolers.
young americans must vote
Until the nation’s youngest populace vote, government will not reflect the next generation of American politics, diversity, or progress.
